You should NOT get XP 64-bit, has much less driver and technical support from the other operating system, and is only less stable than Windows XP 32-bit. Vista Ultimate is a decent operating system, but you should really wait for Windows 7. New features make it much more convenient and accessible than Vista and XP. If you can not wait, then I suggest you get Vista Ultimate 64-bit. Vista would not really be a memory of "pig" considering the amount of RAM you have, and since SP1 and SP2 is much better received. In addition, your computer can not take advantage of more than 3.5 GB of RAM without an operating system 64 bits. To get the most out of your memory of your operating system must be 64-bit. Vista is also better XP operating system is now. Before SP1 was unstable which helps the driver bad, but now is a complete operating system and void. In conclusion, you should get Windows 7 64-bit (when leaving). But if you can not wait get Vista Ultimate 64-bit.
