Can I use a flat panel monitor instead of a TV?

My TV is about to die, and I'm thinking it might be worth my time to replace my TV with a 20-inch flat panel monitor. Ensuring that only can be done. The way I'm thinking, a TV, plus the screen has a receiver for the channels and an amplifier / speakers. But if I get my TV channels through a cable, and expand my sound through a receiver Audio, no sense that everything we really need is the screen (the built in receiver and amplifier on TV is superfluous). In addition, I have the TV Miglia eye, compatible with my MacBook, so I can get TV stations in my MacBook (which is an analog to digital converter), I think it's a good idea, and cost less than flat panel monitors flat screen TV, plus you can use it for more things on my computer. But before you go out and buy a 20 + on the monitor, I just want to verify that you can do. Also Is there a way to stream video (all video, including TV and DVD) wirelessly from my laptop to monitor?

Actually do the same. You only have to replace the video card with one that has a television receiver. I use an ATI Radeon 7500 (rather old, actually). I do not think there is still the technology of a wireless monitor, but I bet someone somewhere is working on it!
