Help! my co-worker is disrespectful?
My co-worker sits very close and plays music that I don't like at a level that stresses me out. I've asked him to turn down the volume and to play something that we can both enjoy. Each time he has ignored my wishes. I've complained to my boss about the nuisance and she sticks up for him because he is going through a hard time. In my opinion you shouldn't bring your problems to work, it affects others and their ability to produce a good end product. I would absolutely love to pull the speakers out of his computer, but obviously that would get me in trouble. Is there anything that I can do to end the insanity without getting myself written up?
My boss has denied earphones in the workplace because she believes they are a hinderance (no talking her out of it either). We also don't have an HR department, she is at the top.
No matter what is going on in his life, he should not be imposing his noise on you. This is an office? I don't know why the boss allows it, no matter what the guy is "going through". I'd say that was out of place in an office or other workplace. Loud noise does not solve personal problems, in fact can cause more.
