Black girls in rock / alt metal. music etc?
I want to hear from some of my sistas in metal bands. What bands are you into? Can you see local metal shows? Would you be willing to join a metal / rock band? How to deal with negative comments from friends and the black family? Do you run on static display and if so how to treat? My Favorite Band is Mastodon I also like the old school Korn, Rage Against the Machine, System of a Down, etc. I also love Radiohead are not metal but are impressive and very influential in the ALT. music from the late 80's. My musical tastes are varied listen ever some Billie Holiday with the Prince to Pantera to classic. I am not just a genre, if it sounds good I will listen. to it.
I'm half black (half Hispanics) and I love metal. I like Lamb of God, Despised Icon, Cradle of Filth, Dying Fetus, Cannibal Corpse, etc. .. I used to go to shows when I lived near DC, but I've relaxed a lot, I like to listen to music and drinking lol. When I went to the show, I never had any problems. The area to be lived in a diverse and ever I ran into a problem. The shows are music. When I was in high school my friends and I got together and playing guitar / drums and only BS all day. I wanted to be in a band, but just to play, not to actually do shows and things. Many people have commented that because I prefer to assume about rap metal (I like a rap!) I'm not black. It is simply ignorant and wrong (and very sad really ...). I just tell them the truth-that his career does not depend on what type of music you play, the way they dress or how you talk! I like a variety of music too. I like country, rap, commercial rock / pop, Japanese music of all kinds, classical, techno, reggae, reggaeton (SP), indie, etc. I also think Billie Holiday is awesome =] All we can do is teach our future generations to have an open mind and not associated with race preferences.
