Why not use more inductive load?
Inductive charging is used in things like toothbrushes, razors, and portable lighting, Why not be used in more products? I am designing a small set of wireless speakers, each with its own battery. I have to decide whether the base station must charge through induction or conductive charging standard. For example, http://www.yankodesign.com/2007/12/05/apple-remote-but-not-by-apple/ it is realistic or is the induction of a thing of the future? thanks
Well inductive load is used primarily for security (and to some degree of convenience). For example, are guaranteed to get wet toothbrush during operation. So, obviously, would be very dangerous to have a cable that operates in an environment watery. Of course, you could use a system where the cable can be disconnected during the operation, but then that would be tedious for users. In this case, inductive load fits perfectly, no play with a cable and, more important, water will not pose a security risk. The problem however is that it is very inefficient. I have a toothbrush that has about 16 hours to charge and only takes about 15 minutes. Of course, the main reason for inefficiency is that the design of the forces the inefficient use of a transformer "type of circuit (because you can not use a solid iron core to connect the two circuits). The other problem is you still need power supply to the base station. And so you never fully escape the need for a conventional charger to drive in the final. As using it for speakers. It depends on many things. Mainly I would say it depends on the number of speakers in reality, since many stations have separate cargo could be more complicated than using a single induction station. Most however, would have to consider the efficiency, and also whether it is possible to use a very simple (cheap) multi-use docking station charger driver instead.
