Klipsch Intros New Reference II Series Speakers
When Klipsch updates a line, Klipsch does it big. The latest update to the Reference II series includes 17 new speakers. That includes five floorstanding speakers, four bookshelf speakers, four center channel speakers, and four surround speakers.
What do you think about this for a home theater set up?
This is what I put together. 5.1-500W RECEIVER Sony STR-DG520 Sony Dual Center Speaker Sub-sscn5000 5-1/4 12''sony saw3000 200 watt 2 way bookshelf speakers sony (even) ssb1000 Do I need another set of shelves to get the full 5.1 surround sound. Thanks for looking.
Sony makes some half decent receivers so that's not a bad way to start. However, Sony is not the first option, or even the third or second option for the speakers. For surround sound you need five speakers and a subwoofer. Front left, front center, front right, surround left and surround right. It works best if all three front speakers are identical. Since you have two bookshelf speakers and I would suggest you get another group (Adaptation) and the use of shelves three speakers to play to their foreheads and banish the "center" speaker to one of their envelopes and the other rack that surrounding remaining position. This will give the best sound with what you already have, speaking from my own experience. BTW speakers are placed on the sides of the room is not behind you. You should know that Sony is very overrated speakers in both frequency response and power. For example the rate in sub-woofer 200w 10% THD! That means that the sub 200w is really getting the best clean energy 50w if you're lucky. The frequency response is rated to 20 Hz, which is impossible for a 12 "speaker and it is unlikely, even for a store bought 15 "sub. There are a few speakers who have that kind of frequency response but they are in the thousands of dollars. There is simply no subsamples $ 200 to come even close to 20Hz. Since you already have 4.3 of the equipment you need and may well reach two other speakers you need and configure it. But I would recommend you consider upgrading both the speakers and a sub-woofer when I can. You will be happier with the sound much if you do.
