How can I make my 7.1 sound system for PC to work on DVD's?

I have a Creative 7.1 sound card connected to a SoundBlaster, now i can get surround sound, sound for all my computer games, but I can not make it work for any of my DVD's, is PowerDVD DVD My main program, but the only sound coming out of the 2 front speakers (and the Subcommittee). Does anyone know the answer to this problem? Or can recommend a good DVD player for my pc? Thanks - JT

Not sure but look at the settings of your sound card? I know mine can change the 2.1/4.1/5.1 configuration etc. .. Mabe also enter the settings in the main DVD menu. You can probably get 5.1 but maybe not 7.1
